Long years I spent in pursuit
Of that shrewd creature called Happiness
Like other hunters of repute
I was left teary, weary and breathless
Neither hiding in the forest of wealth
Nor perched on the summit of influence
It dawned upon me by stealth
Only after I’d run a wasteful distance
That the joy that’d make me smile
Wasn’t mine to find in the end
Instead, Happiness found me while
I shared my story with a friend
