FAITH

There was no rain for several weeks in a village. The priest, calling upon the people to pray more intensely invited them on a Sunday to meet at the church campus. He asked them to come with visible signs of faith. People came in large numbers. Some came with their rosaries with bibles prayer books with holy medals and pictures. But there in crowd was a little boy with an umbrella in hand.
The priest deeply impressed invited the boy to tell the crowd why he came with an umbrella. The boy with unshakable child like faith said I came with umbrella cos I don’t to get in the rain as we pray for rain. It rained heavily that day as the crowd prayed.
Faith is an absolute trust in god of all possibilities. Faith does not end with hope it crosses its threshold.
Faith to is to be sure of things we hope for and he conviction of things we don’t see. Faith does not come easily to one who is inflated with pride with his own abilities and strength. Faith comes to those who realize their frailty and inadequateness.
Our highest intelligence and strongest abilities cannot match the awesome power of god and that’s why we need to look beyond our capacities in perfect dependence upon god we can’t stop a heavy downpour nor create rain, or a arrest tsunami. We cannot restructure the constellations rearranging the planets or stop earth from rotating. These are gentle reminders that der is someone beyond us upon whom we can depend.
When the disciples answered the call to discipleship with Jesus they never expected to get better fishing nets, boats and a booming business. They asked for two things Lord teach us to pray and lord increase our faith. These were the two things they saw that Jesus zeal for prayer and an unshakable faith in heavenly father. The disciples could see very clearly how faith and prayer in the life of Jesus helped him relate with the sinner and saint. They saw how he could celebrate life joyfully and embrace suffering in resilience. They saw how he turned impossibilities to possibilities.
Faith opens up for us a world of possibilities. The best prayer we could ever make is lord teach us to pray. And if we pray for rain les keep umbrella at hand…that’s faith

Tell me what got into you..? How did you do it . . ?

A teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very
special relationship. The father believed in encouragement.
This young man was the smallest of the class when he entered high
school. His father continued to encourage him but also made it very
clear that he did not have to play football if he didn't want to. But the
young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was determined
to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to play when he
became a senior. Even though the son was always on the bench, his
father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a game.
All through high school he never missed neither a practice nor a
game, but remained a bench warmer all four years. His faithful
father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement
for him. When the young man went to college, he decided to try out
for the football team as a "walk-on." Everyone was sure he could
never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him
on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul to every practice,
and at the same time, provided the other members with the spirit and
hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled
him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father.
His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all
the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed
practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play
in the game. It was the end of his senior football season, and as he
trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big play off
game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the
telegram and he became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled
to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss
practice today?"
The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the
rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game
on Saturday." Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well.
In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent
young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on
his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players
were astounded to see their faithful team-mate back so soon.
"Coach, please let me play. I've just got to play today," said the young man.
The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his
worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted,
and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right," he said.
"You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the
stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never
played before, was doing everything right.
The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked and
tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied.
In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran
all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His team-mates
hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you've never heard! Finally,
after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker
room, the coach noticed that the young man was sitting quietly in the corner
all alone. The coach came to him and said, "Kid, I can't believe it. You were
fantastic!
Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?"
He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you
knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The
young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my
games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to
show him I could do it . . . "

A Mother’s love’s undying

A Mother’s love’s undying
Never shall it falter
Filled with true compassion
A heart you wouldn’t alter
Always does the very best
And sacrifices all
Will be there when needed
To catch you when you fall
Never loses faith in you
Even through your sorrows
Encourages to do your best
To make a better tomorrow
Never stops believing
Or giving up on you
Even when not needed
Her love keeps shining through
Joy, pain, and selflessness
Your broken heart she’d mend
A love which can’t be measured
Without a beginning or end
A Mother’s love’s undying
And when her days are done
Up there in the Heavens
Her love will go on and ON!

My Mother

She raised nine kids when times were tough;
She showed us all just how to cope
With rocky roads and pathways rough,
And told us life is filled with hope.

She led us with a gentle hand,
But spanked us for our naughty ways;
When falling down she helped us stand
And coaxed us onward with her praise.

She never whimpered or complained,
Although sometimes her heart was weary.
She chuckled even when it rained,
And taught us love is never dreary.

She never made the Hall of Fame,
Although her worthy deeds were many.
Marquees did never blink her name,
Although her noble acts were plenty.

In all this world, the next one too,
I know there'll never be another
To take her place because, you see,
She really was the ideal Mother

Pick a Positive Thought

Most of the things you worry so much about
would never happen if they were left alone.
Yet by your persistent focus on them, you greatly
increase their likelihood. It is wise to be concerned
and to take actions that will address those concerns.
Yet it is foolish to simply worry, day after day,
until that worry is soon manifest into something real.

Each day you fill your mind with thousands of thoughts.
Those thoughts have much power because they influence
every
little thing you do, and those little things quickly add up.

So rather than filling your mind with worrisome thoughts,
fill it with positive, enthusiastic,
loving and life-affirming ones.
Then, rather than letting the power of your thoughts
push you down, those thoughts will be lifting you up.

The next time you find yourself with a worry or anxiety,
think of it as a pebble in your hand. Simply let go of it,
let it drop naturally, effortlessly to the ground,
and continue on your way.
Then pick a positive, enriching thought to take its place

Mother of Mine

The moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of that wonderful mother of mine.

The birds never sing but a message they bring
Of that wonderful mother of mine.

Just to bring back the time, that was so sweet to me,
Just to bring back the days, when I sat on her knee.

I pray ev'ry night to our Father above,
For that wonderful mother of mine.

I ask Him to keep her as long as He can
That -- wonderful mother of mine.

There are treasures on earth, that made life seem worthwhile,
But there's none can compare to my mother's smile.

You are a wonderful mother, dear old Mother of mine.
You'll hold a spot down deep in my heart,

'Till the stars no longer shine.
Your soul shall live on forever,

On through the fields of time.
For there'll never be another to me,
Like that wonderful Mother of mine.

Mother, what can I give you..

After having reached the height of his career a man felt a duty to repay his mother back for all that she had done for him.

He asked, "Mother, what can I give you? What can I do for you? I sincerely wish to repay you for the sacrifices you made for me and for all the love you have showered upon me."

Mother looked surprised and said, "Why do you think about it? It was my duty so I did it, you don't have to repay me. Even if you want to, there is no way a man can ever repay his mother."

Despite her continuous refusal to ask for anything, the son persisted. To put an end to the discussion, she said, "All right. If you must, then tonight you sleep on my bed, with me, just as you used to when you were a baby."

He said, "That's a strange thing to ask for, but if it pleases you, I will."

As soon as he fell asleep, the mother got up and brought a bucket of water. She poured a mug full of water on his side. Feeling disturbed by the wetness under him, in his sleep he moved away to the other side of the bed. As he settled down, his mother poured another mug of water on the other side. In his slumber he tried to find space towards the foot post of the bed.

Sometime later he woke up feeling that this part of the bed too was damp. He got up and saw his mother, with the mug in her hand. He asked angrily, "What are you doing mother? Why don't you let me sleep? How do you expect me to sleep on a wet bed?"

Mother said, "I slept with you, when you wet the bed in the night. I would change your nappy and move you to the dry part of the bed, while I slept on the wet side. You wanted to repay me. Can you sleep here even for one night with me on a damp bed? If you can, I'll take it that you have repaid me."

How eloquently the story above demonstrates that we can't even begin to repay the care, love and attention a mother showers her child throughout the course of life. May god enable us to be of service and comfort to both our parents when we can and may He grant us to serve them during their old age......
